Thanks, Kimberly Anne - While still in NYC, I've found visiting a nearby co-working facility twice a week brings amazing productivity. Once I'm off and running in digital nomad mode, I'm sure I'll need to figure out some new tricks. Pomodoro works well for me at home.
I think that the major productivity-destroyer for me in those jobs was what I’ll call the “hero social worker filling the breach/fighting the good fight in the often but not always metaphorically blood- and shit-smeared trenches” fantasy. And I bought it. Repeatedly.
Semi-retirement has allowed me to fully apprehend that dynamic but also has highlighted my frequent inability to fill my life with meaning. I’m coming to recognize that I’m bereft without a campaign someone else directs.
I’m a GREAT implementer: if I had lived in the Soviet Union of the 1930s I would have won frequent Stakhanovite “Hero of Labor” awards.
But I’m coming to realize that a significant part of my retirement will be self-directed. So it was great to see your productivity article.
Wow, Kim, I never heard about these magnificent projects of yours! (Always mystifies me what my housemate considers significant enough to impart to me???)
Gonna agree with Brian on two points: I am in awe of that level of productivity, and I want to read your books. You and I have somewhat similar steam quotients, if I remember correctly.
At the risk of being patho-mawkish, I am VERY good at picking jobs that destroy me (yep, 30 years of work in community mental health treatment can do that.)
I am truly in awe of you, and so look forward to reading whatever you post. I am curious if your novels are still on publication or available. Big hug 🤗
Hi Brian, awww such kind words, thank you so much!!! I really appreciate you!!!
My novels are published, but I don't give out my PNR pen-name because those books are embarrassingly steamy. I have written other books under a different pen-name but I'm trying to get an agent for those instead of self publishing them which means I can't release them yet. Regardless of what happens (agent or indie) I will be up for sharing that pen-name eventually! LOL
So this is how you're keeping all of your projects on track! 👏
Ha! Kind of... ? 😬😬😬

Hi Vicki, yes yes coworker spaces are amazing! I use them as well, I did not list them so I’m glad you mentioned that!!!
