I'll be in Porto end of Oct/early Nov for a couple of days and excited to explore more. I've only been once before on a cruise excursion. It was fun, but far to short a time spent in the city. Thanks for all these great suggestions.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to it. Will be doing a 5-week survey trip and will check out Setubal, Santarem, Coimbra, Leiria and Tomar. Super excited for the adventure.
Oh wonderful! Setúbal is one of my favorite places! Coimbra as well 🥰 I’m very interested in Tomar would love to hear your thoughts on all 5 places upon your return!!!!
Tomar wasn't on my list, but it kept "popping up" randomly -- and I know enough that when the Universe puts a sign in your way, it's best to follow the sign -- so I'm interested to see what Tomar has to offer. I'm also curious about Coimbra. Some friends just emigrated to Lisbon, but they're looking at Coimbra as a potential move once they get settled in country. I'll be sure to share my thoughts on these places when I get back.
This is chock full of absolutely great tips on traveling in Porto; only a resident can know about these gems KImberly.
I too love to visit beautiful cemeteries and just went to Pere Lachaise in Paris for the first time and will go back in January, wow!!! And isn't it amazing, 50 years after Jim Morrison died there were still people at his gravesite including me.
Just a small correction to a great post with great ideas: On the 1990 photo/text, the Paris cemetery's name is spelled Père-Lachaise, "Cimetière du Père-Lachaise" (but you may be writing like that so that English speakers who don't know French say it well). I do love Expat on a Budget!
This is so helpful! Thanks for sharing.
Aw. I’m happy to hear! Thank you!
The pix are such a great walk down memory lane! And we are so going to the fishing village once I can arrange a visit. 😃
YAY! YES!!!! and hehe, thank you!!!

Awww thank you so much Mary!! I really appreciate you!!!
And yes it is amazing (but not at all surprising) that people still visit Jim Morrison at Père-Lachaise!!!
HUGS!!!
Rock legends live on.
Jim Morrison’s story is mysterious and intriguing.
Can’t wait to go back to Pere Lachaise.
Big hugs, see you down the road. :)
